About me

Luis Aguilar grew up immersed in the trade world — watching his father work as an auto collision technician, repairing and flipping cars. From an early age, Luis absorbed hands-on lessons in negotiation, sales, and repair, all of which would shape his later career.

He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Tyler and launched into an eclectic career path: from conducting research at Rice University to working in the oil & gas industry on pipeline projects, and later serving as a test engineer for Blue Origin in West Texas. Today, he works as a space suit engineer at NASA, one of the world’s foremost aerospace agencies.

Now, Luis channels those diverse skills into his passion for construction and community building. Alongside his childhood friends, he co-founded Covalent Homes in Houston, driven by a mission to transform neighborhoods through thoughtful custom builds, renovations, and quality craftsmanship. With roots in engineering, design, and hands-on repair, Luis brings a unique perspective to building better homes and stronger connections.

Fun Fact: Luis was also a scholarship athlete, playing on the Division II men’s soccer team at UT Tyler, where teamwork and discipline became second nature.
